We are so very excited to see 00_ (‘Double Oh Nothing’) at La la la’s this Sunday and think you should be too. The band is currently on an impressive 10 show tour with their new single ‘Bath Water Baby’, each show featuring a list of equally incredible supports: See them in Wollongong with local legends Pictures with Yuki and Canberra’s Mr Industry; or at any of the 6 other shows across Australia in February. Another anticipated highlight I’d recommend would on be the 7th at The Hamilton Station Hotel, Newcastle with emo treasure Doris, a current personal favourite of the scene. Also performing at Marrickville Bowlo, Marrickville and The Grace Darling, Collingwood VIC.
Listen to “Bath Water Baby” and “ClaUdia”, the single from their debut album “CA\YPTRA” here for a small insight into 00_’s vast sonic range. In their newest release, discordant droning bass and guitar lines provide an intense atmosphere for the vocal performance, which follows and builds on the instrumental’s rapid changes in speed and volume.

Major Arcana are a defacto Gong heavy outfit, consistently performing the familiar stages of Wollongong and surrounds over the past 5~ years, returning to La La La’s on February 16th to launch their newest single ‘Jasper’ This comes after, most recently, signing with Backbone MGMT and releasing their powerful EP “Necromancy” in 2022 with it’s anthemic highlight “Glitches”. I’m not surprised at Major Arcana’s esteemed local status as there are very few other acts that sound like them. Their distinct loud, groove fronted songs are easily listened to over and again, both live on stage and in their masterfully produced recordings. If you haven’t seen them live yet, you should be at La’s on the 16th.

The last show of the month that I am excitedly waiting for is Wednesday at Enmore’s Factory Theatre. I recently became a huge fan repeatedly listening to their 2020 album ‘I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone’, its songs Underneath and Fate is… seemed to be constantly stuck in my head. Touring Australia and New Zealand across February and March, I implore any lovers of strikingly heartbreaking vocals and slow core guitars to catch them while they’re here.
