WANDERING SOUNDS: GRXCE

GRXCE are an Eora/Sydney trio who are kept busy by playing sold-out gigs around the country. Led by Jamila Grace (who lends her surname to the band), GRXCE traverses the ups-and-downs of womanhood, relationships and mental health, but with an electronic gusto that’ll sweep you off your feet. Their effervescent live shows have gained them a mass of followers from Eora and far, far beyond. With high quality production from Alex Berger, the band’s talented drummer, and featuring Jonathan Amirzaian’s mind-blowing fretwork, their music becomes an expressive release. Better out than in, I always say. For fans of expressive melancholy, listen up. These guys have no plans to slow down—their latest releases amp it up with Paramore-esque melodies layered upon glitchy samples.

Luckily for us, the band put together our playlist for this month! Of the playlist, Jamila says,

This playlist is full of some of our current favourites that the band have had on rotation, some amazing aussie emerging acts and some dream acts that we would die to support. A lot of these songs have been playing in-between writing our sophomore EP and have informed what kind of sounds we have leaned into, a lot of fuzz, grit, ear candy and distortion and equal parts tongue-in-cheek and heart wrenching lyrics. In its entirety this playlist shows why GRXCE is what it is and also a little hint of what we might become. Hope you find some new favourites within these little gems and also hope you enjoy the EP when it comes out!
